Brooke and Darren | Wedding @ St. Thomas at Newton, IL

We are slowly but surely wrapping up our 2014 wedding season and although we are really looking forward to a brief break this winter we are sure having a blast shooting the last few weddings of the year. There is really only one thing I can say about Brooke and Darren’s wedding day and that is: The Mendenhall’s and the Zerrusens can throw one hell of a party. I’ve not quite seen a wedding yet like Brooke and Darren’s that was truly a family and community affair. It was clear by the FULLY packed church and the hundreds of people at the reception that Brooke and Darren are two very loved individuals. We started the morning at Shear Designs in Effingham where Brooke was very calm and relaxed in preparation for her wedding day. She was so organized and had a realistic schedule which enabled us to have a great first look with both her dad and Darren and also get all of the formal shots in before the wedding ceremony so that we would have time for outdoor photos after the wedding. Thanks to daylight savings time we are losing light much earlier now and because of the awesome schedule we were provided we were able to get some KILLER sunset shots at Tuscan Hills Winery. The wedding ceremony was held in one of my favorite churches in the area, St. Thomas in Newton with beautiful natural light and one of the kindest priests I have ever met. We got to spend a lot of time with Brooke and Darren’s very fun and lively wedding party and the reception was held at the Teutopolis KC Hall where the couple had beautiful décor, vintage details, and a popcorn bar. Some of the decor was provided by Celebrate in Style, a decorating service out of Stewardson, IL. The KC Hall looked great and Complete Music provided music to keep the party hopping all night long. We want to give a special shout out to the parents of the bride and groom who made us feel so welcome throughout the day, what a great group! We were very fortunate again to have the talents of Kayla Williamson (From Kayla Elizabeth Photography in Martinsville, IL) join us as a second shooter and awesome helper and she contributed some fantastic images to our blog. We also had the lovely assistance of Josh, our second videographer who assisted Doug in the couple’s wedding video. Stay tuned to Key-Films’ blog in the next few weeks for a their wedding trailer!

Congrats Brooke and Darren, we hope you have a wonderful life together!
