Kaytlin and DJ | Wedding @ Carriage House, Altamont

Our first wedding of 2017! It is absolutely fitting that we started the year off with a fun loving, awesome couple: Kaytlin and DJ. We remember their engagement session well: it was extremely hot and we kept saying “Hey we won’t have to deal with this on your January wedding date!” and boy were we wrong! While Kaytlin was all decked out as the ultimate snow princess, her January wedding brought more than she bargained for. Instead of snow, Kaytlin and DJ received a 68 degree day in January. It was almost borderline hot outside in January! I couldn’t believe it! I was pretty much thrilled because I knew this meant I could keep the bridal party outside, longer, without them freezing to death for pictures but I was a little sad for the couple because their theme was a winter wedding theme and they had longed for snow. We started the morning at the Carriage House for hair and makeup and we loved the couples beautiful decorations at the reception including a custom backdrop and awesome little hot chocolate containers for their guests to take home. I enjoyed rocking out to Jock Jams with the girls while they got ready and Doug spent the morning with the guys hanging out. We really enjoyed this group, they were really just so chill and fun to be around. The wedding ceremony went beautifully and included a wine ceremony (super cool, google it) with the couples parents and some very cute and adorable vows. The groom had a great reaction when his snow princess came down the aisle in her beautiful dress and her gorgeous fur coat. We headed out for bridal party pictures outside in the beautiful weather and once we completed pictures we headed to one of the local bars so the group could hang out, relax, and have a good time. Once we headed back to the reception we were treated to a hilarious musical tribute by the sisters of the bride and also to some of the most amazing cheesecake I’ve ever had. For real, Kaytlin’s mom is the best cheesecake maker I’ve ever come across (for real). I have had dreams about this amazing cheesecake! The couple had some really emotional and great first dances together and with their families and the party was hopping right after that. Even though Kaytlin and DJ didn’t get real snow, their families worked together to create their own snow for the couple. I was quickly pulled outside for the surprise of a lifetime when the couples family showered them with fake snow that they had made. I never did hear what it was completely made out of but it smelled amazing (think laundry fresh). It was such a magical and fun moment to witness, we are so honored this couple trusted us for their big day. We had a blast and we were happy to kick off the year right! Congrats Kaytlin and DJ!
