Michelle and Markus | Wedding @ Island Grove, IL

Today’s blog brought to you by: a 99 degree wedding day, a broken toe, some mac and cheese, a bubble machine, and a couple that will, without any doubt, be together forever. Trust me, in 50 years, you’ll see Michelle and Markus still going strong and just as in love as ever.

I’m officially halfway through my wedding season although I should say “we” are halfway through our wedding season. We are loving the absence of rain now on our Saturday’s but we aren’t loving the heat so much. Michelle and Markus had a very humid day but they didn’t let that bother them as they celebrated their wedding day. We had a great start to the morning at one of my favorite salons, Foxy Styles where the amazing Lauren Niemerg created not only Michelle’s bridal up do but also completed her makeup as well. We had a very relaxed morning and enjoyed hanging out with everyone at the church hall before the ceremony. We were able to get all of the portraits needed inside the church which thankfully had the AC blasting because its as every bit of 100 degrees outside. Michelle and Markus exchanged their vows, we snapped some outdoor pictures on the church grounds, and then we headed out to a few local bars before turning up at the Teutopolis KC Hall for their reception. The hall looked beautiful and we were treated to some really great speeches and even a song, sang by some of the couples friends, completely written for them. Because of the heat, we felt we needed to take a few more outdoor pictures towards the end of the evening when the sun wasn’t so harsh and we are glad we did because the light was really beautiful. We want to give a special shout out to the couples chosen bridal party, they were absolutely excellent, great to work with, and completely respectful. We know how hot it was and we knew that we may get some grumbles and moans about taking bridal party pictures outside but we were so happy that everyone was so cooperative and awesome about it. We really appreciate everyone toughing it out because it was absolutely hot outside. I also want to add that some of the bridal party members may want to thank me for leaving some of the “pole” shots from the party bus (you know who you are). Also, Michelle probably already knows this is coming, but I want to also say how absolutely awesome and delicious the mac and cheese from IGA was and how much I am really hoping mac and cheese for a wedding meal becomes a “must have” Pinterest” trend. Seriously, amazing. We ended the night with Michelle and Markus in the field getting eaten alive by bugs taking some cool shots with our bubble machine (that we had bought for our friends kids to play with at our house). I love wedding season, never a dull moment!

-Congrats Michelle and Markus, I have no doubt you’ll live a long and full life together!

A few more things….

* I have had a few comments/emails about my previous blogs from relatives and friends asking “Where’s the picture of so and so?” Just a note on our blogs in general: I take thousands of pictures at a wedding, if blogged every single photo, I’d never get anything done. Our blog is meant to be a “snap shot” of the couples big day through which photos are pretty randomly selected (and I really mean that, completely random). The goal of our blog is to focus on the couple and the bridal party. We don’t always sneak in family photos, if we do, there is typically a reason or couple request. We try to avoid including a lot of family photos in our blog on purpose (and if you saw the amount of email I get, you’d understand why). This doesn’t mean however that we didn’t take or won’t deliver those photos to our clients. Our couples get a LOT of images, and no worries, they include all of the family formals we took at the church.

*Doug is the unsung hero of this wedding. I broke my toe and injured my foot in a couple of places the DAY BEFORE this wedding, I knew it was broken I just didn’t realize how bad. I managed just fine with minimal pain but Doug had to take on the role of hauling ALL of the gear (and we don’t pack light). In addition to this, Doug also had some AMAZING portraits and black and white’s that I have included in this blog. No worries though, I ditched the “supportive” flip flop  after the wedding and went to a real doctor. I’m rocking a boot/cast thingy now and will hopefully heal quickly. Thanks Husband for all you do for me, I love ya.

-Kate
