I was so honored to be asked to capture the beautiful wedding day of Shelby and Jon. Shelby and I have a shared work history together in that we both started at the same company on the same day and worked on the same team for a short period of time and since then I have known her to be the greatest example of grace one would ever see. She was absolutely STUNNING on her wedding day and watching the love unfold between her and Jon was just an absolute joy to photograph and document.
The Austin Mansion was the backdrop for our wedding preparations and ceremony and I couldn’t have been happier about that arrangement. Being at the mansion doing hair and makeup gave me ample opportunity to photograph all the important details of the day and spend some time photographing Shelby’s transformation into the most beautiful bride. Shelby had a personal touch in literally every detail of the day including the incredible hair piece that she wore which she made HERSELF (yeah Pinterest, take that) The rain clouds passed by and we were able to have the most amazing weather for the ceremony which was complete with a set of emotional and personal vows, adorable little attendants, and lots of happy tears. We loved having the mansion all to ourselves to take artistic and fun portraits. We spent the afternoon relaxing and hanging out with the couple taking pictures and visiting a local bar prior to heading to the Effingham KC Hall for the reception. Brad Miller provided the musical entertainment and DJ services for the evening and thanks to him we had an organized and fun event. We enjoyed the fact that Shelby and Jon had cheesecake (yum) for their reception and that there were flowing tears for the speeches and first dances (photography gold for sure). We also loved how much fun the couple had on the dance floor with their family and friends as it made for some great fun memories. Despite all the stresses of a wedding it is safe to say that moments and couples like this make it all worth it and once you let go of all of the planning stress the day really unfolds to be wonderful. The best part about the day in my opinion is that Shelby truly trusted our vision and ideas for her wedding day. Brides are typically surrounded by lots of opinions and thoughts from family to bridal party and sometimes it can really be difficult to weed out exactly what they want for their wedding day photography. This is why we absolutely love when couples trust our vision to capture their day and make it their own, we do in fact get to attend a LOT more weddings then your average guest or attendant and we know that great couples like this value that experience. Can’t say enough about how thankful we are that couples like Shelby and Jon trust us to work our magic. Congrats Shelby and Jon and thank you for choosing us to be a part of your wedding day.
* Just a note about our blogs! We absolutely LOVE documenting the entire wedding day and this blog represents a very small snapshot of the big day! We like our blogs to focus on the bride, groom, and bridal party so sometimes family photos don’t always make the cut. Never fear! We promise that all family formals taken will be given to the bride and groom once their images are ready!*
