Abby and Shannon | Wedding @ Morrisonville, IL

When we plan a big trip, we always have to look at our schedule at least 2 years in advance and block off time, even if we don’t know where we are going. Well we knew a year or two ago we wanted to take a big trip in September of 2018 but we didn’t know when so we do what we always do, we blocked off four weeks so we could plan. Well, once we booked our trip, we realized we could accept another September wedding so enter Abby and Shannon (friends of our previous couple, Nick and Elizabeth). We are so glad we got to accept another September wedding because it was an amazing day with a really awesome couple.

We started the morning with hair, makeup, and bridal prep at Abby’s parents house and while the bridesmaids and little flower girls were running around getting ready we got to really know the family well. It was great having a relaxing morning in a small town and knowing we were very close not only to the church but to the reception venue as well. Abby chose a beautiful dress and veil and had beautiful wedding jewelry from her husband Shannon. I’m thinking I need to send Doug with him to the jewelry store because he does a pretty awesome job. We headed over to the church where the threat of rain all day long concerned us. Thankfully, Abby and Shannon saved the day by doing a first look which allowed us to get in as many outdoor photos as possible as we assumed with the gloomy forecast we were projected to get the rest of the day we wouldn’t be able to get outdoor photos done later in the afternoon. We shot family and bridal party outdoor and made the best of the soggy conditions with rain boots and umbrellas. Abby and Shannon got married in a beautiful church in Morrisonville and had a full church of loved ones gathered around as they exchanged vows. Their ceremony went off without a hitch and we were soon on our way to the outdoor photo location where the clouds were still present but the rain held off for us as we finished up some epic outdoor photos in the local area. We ran over to the reception where Abby and Shannon had a killer cool cake with a beautifully decorated hall. They did an amazing job with the space, we were very impressed. We also had a great meal from Martin’s Catering and the couple had pie and ice cream for their guests to enjoy. Abby and Shannon did their first dances with a beautiful mother/son dance that was dedicated to Shannon’s late father. I heard a lot of comments about him on the wedding day and it’s clear by the great man that Shannon is his father was one awesome guy. We loved working with these two, they were so laid back and fun, very easy to work with. We had a blast with their bridal party and we are glad we got to photograph their genuine love. We are glad they kicked off the start of our vacation and we’re happy to share the blog with them before we take off. Congrats Abby and Shannon, thanks for sharing your special day with us!

Note: while we would LOVE to post every family photo that we did take, it just isn’t feasible for our blogs. We love to focus our blog’s mainly on the bridal party and couple and we throw a few family photos in here and there at random. Don’t worry, if you don’t see the photo we took of you and your family with the couple, never fear. They will have all the photos soon and will be happy to share them with you.
