Macy and Alex | Wedding @ Teutopolis, IL

Before you ask, no I absolutely did not photoshop in the crazy snowstorm that Mother Nature blessed us with on Macy and Alex’s wedding day, it was literally the coolest gift I’ve ever gotten during a January wedding. While we typically avoid winter weddings (our hibernation period is real) we couldn’t resist the worlds sweetest couple and not only was the day amazing, we ended up with our first ever snow wedding in our careers. I’m not sure how we went this long without a snow wedding but I’m kind of loving it.

Snow isn’t typically something you can plan for, only hope and wish for and I’m not kidding when I say that the snow started when we needed it for photos and basically stopped when we didn’t. It was crazy. We started the morning with Macy and her girls in Newton for hair and makeup at Revive. Those girls there do a fabulous job as we spent the morning talking weddings, hair and more. Macy was pretty calm most of the morning and the excitement was really in the air. She’s literally the sweetest person ever you guys, the kind you want to just carry around with you for life as a close friend. Alex is the same way and he gets props for laughing at my jokes and basically being so in love with Macy photos were like “OMG THIS IS SO CUTE, MIC DROP.” I usually don’t get this gushy but between their sweetness and the snow, I was basically a wedding puddle the entire day. We headed to the church where thankfully it wasn’t too cold to be outside for a few minutes and we were able to do first looks with Dad as well as outdoor photos of the girls and the guys before the ceremony, taking small breaks in between to make sure they all didn’t freeze. Macy ROCKED the choice of the perfect winter wedding dress and she looked absolutely stunning. The bridal party all did in fact and we were grateful they were so fun and easy going. You can’t always win when you haul 20 people outside in the snow but these guys were troopers. Alex was smiling ear to ear when Macy walked down the aisle and he saw her for the first time, it was really beautiful. The ceremony went smoothly and we were able to finish up indoor photos and by the time we headed outside the snow had picked up. I guess the great thing about it is that once it starts sticking in your hair, it’s just pure magic. Some things are worth getting your dress wet for and unplanned snow, well hell you just go with it. We maximized as much time as we could outside soaking up the beautiful scenery before we climbed the bus and headed for a quick party run. We ended up at the Teutopolis Event Center for the reception where the beautifully decorated hall provided us warmth and goodness for the reception events. Macy and Alex made their grand entrance and had some great speeches from their bridal party and Macy’s father. The food from Niemerg’s was awesome, the music from Complete Music helped the party stay hopping all night long, and the bridal party rocked the dance floor. When I realized there were still fluffy snow flakes rolling outside, we stole the couple away for a quick night shot only to discover after we got outside, Macy wasn’t wearing any shoes. Not only does this girl not complain, she’s a total badass and I absolutely love it. Thankfully, to save her toes, we only took a few seconds to score a really cool night shot and the couple was able to go back in and dance the night away. We love when couples just go with the flow and realize what great photo opportunities lie in the back of our minds and trust us. We couldn’t have asked for a better wedding to kick off the 2019 Wedding Season, we’ll be riding on this wedding cloud for a while as we roll into our busy season. Thanks Macy and Alex for being AMAZING. We wish you all the best in your married life!
