Soooo Debbie and Eddie win the award for craziest weather during an engagement session. It’s literally the worst thing about being a photographer- you have a full schedule, during fall, the busiest time of year and mother nature decides just to be a big fat jerkface. Such was the case for their session. As photographers you KNOW that the couple won’t be comfortable and/or look their best in a session in the pouring down rain but you also know the preparation, hair, makeup, outfit planning, schedule shifting, etc that goes into the couples side of things on engagement photos. When you want the photos to be the best you can be, you have to make some tough calls. Sometimes it’s hard to predict what the weather is going to do and you’d be amazed how many times photography clients think we can predict better than weather.com 😉 Debbie and Eddie were so flexible around the weather, I was so grateful. We attempted to do the session on our first scheduled date with impending rain that seemed to come and go from the weather forecast faster than I can burn toast and once we did get outside to start shooting photos we contended with pretty heavy wind and some earlier than normal darkness that made shooting pretty difficult. When it started to rain steadily enough that you could see it on Debbie’s hair, I knew it was time to pull the plug and finish up the rest of the photos another time. The moment we pulled into our driveway a few minutes after we stopped the session, heavy hail started to hit. I was thankful we weren’t still outside, that would have been a mess!
We wrapped up photos on a pretty nice day one week later and were able to get in the last outfit and shoot in some more well lit conditions. The couple also brought along their beautiful sweet little daughter for photos and we still had some great leaves and fall background to work with. We are really looking forward to this wedding, we know by their fun personalities that its going to be a blast and a day full of laughter.
Congrats to you all!
