Kelley and Bryan | Destination Wedding in Curacao Mini Series (Part 4)

While I normally wouldn’t do an entire blog post for a wedding trailer because we typically just post them to the Facebook fan page so that people can immediately see them without having to dig, I have to add a few disclaimers and thanks to this  in order to do it right-

If you haven’t read part 1-3 of the mini series then you haven’t learned about the events leading up to this video which would explain it better. You missed the 7 flight cancellations, the 4 days of travel, and the fact that Doug (the other half of the Keys photography and film who was supposed to video this wedding) wasn’t able to get a seat on the flight going down thanks to Hurricane Irma. Despite best laid plans to arrive on the island 4 days early, only one of us (Kate) arrived and was faced with the task of choosing to do photos only, or both photos and video on a primarily solo effort with no tripods or light stands (they also didn’t make the journey down). So just a few notes about the video-

First, I didn’t film it all on my own. While people are giving me credit with a solo effort, It wasn’t all me. Because I can’t physically film the ceremony and shoot it at the same time, Bryan’s brother in law Andrew stepped up to the plate and filmed the ceremony beautifully by hand holding the camera. We also used a cocktail table and some really interesting mechanisms to make a makeshift tripod for a steady camera for the ceremony also. Kelley’s bridesmaid, Samantha assisted in filming the first look so that I could shoot the photos and Samantha’s husband John not only assisted with photography lighting after the wedding ceremony he also filmed the first dance and cake cutting. If they hadn’t stepped up to the plate, I wouldn’t have been as successful in achieving a full film so I really thank these guys for stepping up not just for me but for Kelley and Bryan so that they could a full video of their wedding day.

Believe it of not but the bride and groom (also photographers and videographers) also helped in the making of their own video. All of the drone video was provided by Bryan (so yes, it was Bryan flying the drone when it almost hit Kelley in one of the clips). No worries, no brides were harmed in the making of this film. Also, the day before the wedding Kelley assisted me with filming and photographing her own wedding dress, shoes, jewelry and details so that I would have ample time to be able to film and photograph her getting ready process in the morning on the day of the wedding. Because they are in the same profession both Kelley and Bryan knew what we were up against from a photo and video standpoint but with the help of everyone, we pulled it off. Last but not least, someone had to make the shaky clips into something great- Doug. Doug did all of the editing of the 200 plus clips we had between the group of us in order to make into what it is today. Even though he couldn’t be there on the wedding day he was able to still contribute in a huge way and he did a great job. While the video was done without a large majority of our professional equipment, tripod, and stabilizers we are happy knowing that Bryan and Kelley have a special film to look back on to remember their amazing big day. We love you all- can’t wait to share it with the world! Without further adieu- enjoy!

-Kate
