Sara and Jordan | Wedding @ Effingham, IL

We are winding down to halfway through our scheduled wedding season (we only have a few more to go before “retirement” eek!) and we finally got our battle with spring during the wedding of Sara and Jordan. Mother Nature was scheduled to be in our way with rain the ENTIRE day but we lucked out with pockets of dry as the storm moved in and out of the area and it worked to the couples (and my) advantage.

Sara and Jordan are a fun loving, genuine couple that you can tell had an instant connection. I wasn’t there when they met but I’d put Vegas money down that it was an instant match. I remember on their engagement session just watching them interact and trying to avoid going “awwww” every 10 seconds. They were absolutely joyful to photograph. The girls started their morning at Foxy Styles Salon, one of my favorite one stop wedding beauty shops. Sara had beautiful wedding make up completed by the talented Lauren Niemerg and her bridesmaids all got beautiful looks from the salon for the big day. Sara chose this stunning hair style and veil that complimented her look perfectly. We headed to the church in Green Creek for the first time ever (how have we never shot here?!) and started the wedding day preparations. Sara chose beautiful bridesmaid dresses for her crew and she had the most flawless dress ever- it was absolutely perfect for her style. She and Jordan did this memorable first look in the church so that Jordan would get to see her walking down the aisle after the mother’s opened the doors for him to see her. They exchanged letters, hugs, and tears as they got through the initial jitters of the day. We then immediately headed outside because I feared with the incoming rain this would be our only opportunity to get outdoor photos so we squeezed in as many as we could before the rain lightly fell again. Sara and Jordan came prepared with a cute clear umbrella and we were able to also complete church formals as well prior to the ceremony. The guests started to arrive as the rain fell and soon the church was full of loved ones ready to see the big moment when Sara walked down the aisle. Jordan was all smiles as those doors opened and the love of his life came walking down. The ceremony went off perfectly and the newly married couple greeted their guests on the steps of the church as the rain had finally cleared. I was pleased as we headed on the party bus into town to see that it was still going to hold off so we ran over to community park to complete the last set of our outdoor photos. Sara was a trooper in going into the wet grass which we did our best to protect her from using waterproof blankets but we hope that her efforts she felt were worth it because we think the photos turned out great. Beautiful spring colors and flowers were the backdrop to the outdoor bridal party photos and we were happy with our luck as we headed to the reception at the always beautiful Keller Convention Center. The reception was set up with beautiful decor and a very cool cake and the couple entered with full excitement. We were treated to some great speeches, a wonderful meal, and some memorable first dances by the couple and their parents. The party was hopping thanks to Complete Music and we were grateful to have such a full and weather lucky day. We couldn’t have asked for a better couple to work with than Sara and Jordan and we know they are going to have so much fun together in their married life. Congrats you two!
