I remember well the day we shot the engagement photos of Shelby and Tyler. It was a crisp fall morning and they brought their cute doggie Thor to the shoot and even though he was a bit rambunctious we got some great shots and had a great time getting to know them. Fast forward to their summer wedding day and we knew it was going to be a great day. We started the morning with hair and makeup in Decatur where the girls had a very relaxed take on the morning as they shuffled through appointments and left with beautiful looks for hair and makeup. We headed over to Spruce Street Studios in Shelbyville for the ceremony and reception. This is a very unique space and we hadn’t been there since they had made a few updates and additions (Such as the bridal suite) and it has a lot of character. Shelby chose a wedding dress that had the most AMAZING train and she looked fabulous in it, we knew she would make a stunning bride walking down the aisle. The couple had chosen Bushel and Peck Wildflower to provide the flowers for their big day including this beautiful backdrop for the ceremony that was super impressive. Shelby had probably the largest bouquet I’ve ever seen at a wedding, it was truly a masterpiece. Shelby had a beautiful first look with her father, someone who means the world to her and we were honored to even get to be in the room with them during that emotional moment. We were able to get in a few formal shots before the ceremony and as the guests filled into Spruce Street for the ceremony, we knew Tyler was getting really excited to see Shelby walk down the aisle. Shelby’s dad walked her down the aisle in just a beautiful moment and gave her away and the couple exchanged vows in front of their family and friends. After we signed the marriage license we wrapped up family formals at the ceremony site and headed to the Sunken Gardens in Shelbyville for some outdoor photos. We had perfect weather, while slightly warm, and the couple was so lucky to get a perfect day. Summer weddings can be filled with rain, heat advisories, or humidity and Shelby and Tyler lucked out and avoided all of those things and got just a nice warm day. We took photos of the bridal party and couple outside before heading back to the reception for a delicious meal from Martin’s Catering (Mac and cheese shout out!). The couple had a killer donut bar in addition to their wedding cake and we enjoyed the reception decor, it really tied everything together. There were a handful of very sweet and funny speeches from their bridal party and family and as we headed into the first dances we knew that Shelby and her dad’s first dance would be a memorable one, we weren’t wrong. Not sure there was a dry eye in the house as Shelby and her dad took the dance floor, I was even over there tearing up in the corner. Super sweet moment, we were so honored to be there to witness the love. The couple included their family in a lot of their big day plans and we love how relaxed and happy they were throughout the day. We wish them many years of wedded joy!
